I placed an ordered at the Tottenham Court Road store mid-September. As with other people's experiences I found the sales staff extremely (Michelle in particular) friendly and they seemd to be falling over backwards to get us to put down a deposit now and then come back with firm measurements, etc. a few days later.

I had a feeling something wasn't quite right at the time but didn't listen to the voice inside (bad move!). On getting home I noticed additional details around the payment profile had been added to the order form after I'd signed it (during the time they took the paperwork away to process the £100 deposit). Suddenly I'd gone from paying £100 deposit to having "signed up" to a further 2 x £450 downpayments I hadn't agreed to - and which have subsequently been deducted from my card.

I went onto the Companies House Website where I discovered there had been a few name changes and whatnot and the latest company (Designer Living UK Limited) had not posted any accounts for the last year or two. The penny dropped and I think I knew then I'd made a mistake.

The promised fabric swatches arrived and I went into the store to confirm the colour and also the layout. I dealt with another lady (Jenny). I still had queries about the measurements and she took some details saying she'd find out the answer and get back to me. I heard nothing back so a week later my partner got on the phone to them and experienced the awful phone service. He eventually got through to the store and asked to speak to Michelle or Jenny but told they were at trade shows and weren't available. We both decided to go into the store that afternoon and, surprise surprise, Michelle was sitting there right in front of us. However her super friendly sales face had turned into a miserable unhelpful one and we instead dealt with a guy called Elliott. He was quite helpful in terms of taking time to understand the problem and agree what arrangements could be made in terms of size, colour, etc. He updated and initialled our order paperwork and took additional details which he said he'd forward on to the head office. About a week later I emailed a scanned copy of this to Designer Interiors to check whether they had received the changes but I heard nothing back. I called up their freephone number a few days later and was promised a return call and again heard nothing. It now looks like I will need to go into the store AGAIN to try and sort this out. I have a feeling this is only the begining and as with everyone else I would say DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE.

    I have just seen your review and similar experience with these people (my review is on here already). I would be interested to talk to you directly as I think we may also have had deposits added to our form after we have signed it too. I have just instructed a solicitor to deal with this so your similar experience will help.
