I took out car insurance with ECAR when I passed my test in May 2008 Throughout the first 12 months with ECAR and I never had a problem with them On taking out my renewal ECAR asked me to send a copy of my driver's license and I advised them that I did not have this and so they sent me a mandate form to fill in and I filled it in. Unfortunately around this time I was advised of a death of a very very close family member in Durham and so I had to leave for a few weeks. I left for Durham on 30th October 2009. After returning on the 28th November from what was a very sad time I went to spend time with my boyfriend who lives near me but unfortunately I hadn't had the time to return home and On the 2nd November I went into my bank to sort out some financial issues and it was brought to my attention that my policy had been cancelled. I was absolutely shocked as the mandate hadn't come to my mind due to the occupation of my mind somewhere else. I emailed ECAR and a man called Steven Davey emailed me saying that it was cancelled and there was no where it could be reinstated and I was then advised that I WILL have to declare this cancellation when trying to take out a policy anywhere else. As I need my car I went on to find other insurance quotes and upon being told I have had insurance cancelled I was not an ideal customer to provide insurance to and I was offered 3 quotes well into the thousands. Not having a car will cause me massive implications on my life. I really don't need this at the moment bad things are happening in my life and I am being treated like a criminal by cancelling my insurance. I am good person I am not a criminal and I would have never not have sent the mandate to them I was just understandably busy elsewhere. I They are careless horrid people and i would never reccomend them to anyone ever
