I have been a customer of the Halifax for over 10 years. I have my joint account, home insurance, savings and mortgage with them. I wanted to move home so applied for a new mortgage. Was told this would be no problem and given mortgage promise of £156,000. Applied for mortgage and in the past week this has been lowered to £92,00 despite giving them all the information they needed at the start. We now stand to lose our dream home even though we have never missed a payment on anything or ever used our overdraft and have a top credit rating and £40000 deposit to put down we only want to borrow £110,000. The halifax call centre is incompetent and useless I seriously urge others not to waste time getting their mortgage through them they will offer great rates just to get you in the door
