PAWS/JLT Pet insurance
Absolutely awful. I have had a policy for 10 years and at first it was under £7 a month for a young cat. All the time I didn't claim it stayed low, going up about £1 a year. The minute I made a claim, the premiums shot up. Now it is over £29 a month!!
THIS MONTH they have outsourced their direct debit arrangements to PIN Finance. They did not tell me. But now I have to pay through PIN, who want to add an enormous credit charge. I have no choice but to cancel it all completely, leaving my cat uninsured because she is now at an age where I can't get her covered.
Any claims I put in were always hugely delayed. Usually had to wait at least 3 months for a cheque. TWICE when I chased up claims they insisted they had never received anything and I had to go back to the vet to get copies- even though I had sent them registered mail.
The excess got ridiculous- this year they want £210 excess PER CONDITION plus 30% of the remaining bill.
*also* they are very vague on the phone, not helpful at all and you can't download claim forms off the net, like you can with some insurers. You have to phone for a form each time (I photocopied some, but they wouldn't accept them) and they take 3 weeks to send the form.
My other pet is under Pet Plan and they are brilliant.
