We were lucky enough to win business class tickets on Emirates when we flew to the Maldives in 2007. We first flew in to Dubai, then got a connecting flight to Male.

I have to say that I had never experienced business class before on any airline but the experience on Emirates on the way out was fantastic. The plane was quite new and had brilliant seats - they could be extended to lie completely flat and were in their own 'pod' so they couldn't intrude on the person behind you.

There was a great selection of on-demand in-flight films and TV programmes, watchable on you own personal screen in front of you.

Unfortunately, the flight back was not quite as comfortable, which was a shame as that was when we were really tired - we'd been up for about 24 hours by the time we boarded! It was an older model of plane and the seats, whilst still being spacious, were not 'lie-flat'. In fact I reclined mine too far and the woman behind me complained!

I would still recommend Emirates business class but maybe get them to confirm it will be the new model of plane!
