We arrived at pontins southport on Friday 23rd october at around 6pm with my husband, sister and 8 year old daughter and was dissappointed when we drove through the security gates it looked as if we were arriving at a factory/prison no i a am not kidding! we checked in and our apartment was filthy there was springs coming thru the mattress that lucky enough we had packed our daughter's quilt from back home which we used to put on the mattress which stank of pee! we had a quick bite to eat at the Queen Victoria pub n restaurant which was filthy inside too! so far not so good we decided to get an early night n on the sat decided to look around there is nothing there there is an arcade the go kating wasnt available the swimming pool was filthy n the fair rides was not included on the site which cost £2 a go after going to Minehead butlins last year which was brill pay a little bit more n you do not have to leave the site ! wish we had gone back there ! Take a drive off the complex to Southport which is lovley we should have stayed until Monday the 26th but could not stay one more night so left early Sunday Morning Please do not go to pontins at Southport it is like a prison the blue coats are rude and dont know what they are doing and there is nothing for the kids to do so glad we cut our holiday short n are back home !

I agree totally and will be writing my own review after sending a letter of complaint to guest relations..I have photos that will shock people who have never been...it was like spending time on one of the roughest estates ever!! The beds looked as tough they'd been dragged from some bon fire! I wouldn't let a dog sleep on the one I had which I got changed for something 1% better..FOR ANYONE THINKING OF HOLIDAYING AT PONTINS SOUTHPORT, MY ADVISE IS DON'T!!!

I absolutely 100% agree. We were sent there through one of the Sun £9.50 holidays. After thoroughly enjoying our first break at Haven Pwhelli we were all looking forward to our next break at Pontins.
We didn't expect the Ritz for what we paid and knew that the accomodation would be budget but we did expect some form of cleanliness and a decent sleeping area. The bunk beds were falling apart, they had the top bar missing so anyone could have fallen out, we had 3 children with us so 2 of them had to top and tail on the bottom bunk. The sofa bed in the living room had springs popping out of it and metal edges sticking out. quite dangerous for a 2 year old!! The window in the living room didn't close, the condensation on the windows in the morning dripped onto our quilt covers making them soaking wet. The bathroom smelled of urine, the toilet seat had not even been cleaned as there was dust and hairs all over the back of it. The front doors on all of the accomodation looked like they had been kicked in over and over. There was no point complaining as the park was booked to capacity and to be honest every part of the accomodation blocks looked exactly the same. Not one of us took our shoes off the whole time we were in the apartment.
We were booked in from Friday to Monday, we didn't get in the room till 5pm, slept there, spent all day Saturday in Blackpool, got back at 8pm, packed our stuff, slept and then left at 8.15am on the Sunday morning. Not one of us could stand to be there a moment longer, reception wasn't even open to claim our £8 unused electricty cards back, it was worth the loss just to get out of there.
It was the shabbiest park I have ever seen in my life, horrendous!
Apparently they are making the park larger, to hold approx 5000 guests. I don't know if they are just refurbing or knocking it down and starting again. Oh, the cooker was immacutely clean, how bizarre (maybe no-one dared to cook anything in the room for fear of catching something, who knows!)
