I live in the USA. We decided to book a Hotel through Makemytrip.com for Goa which was simple and straight forward. Unfortunately we had to cancel the bookings, so I went to the website to get it sorted. To my surprise there IS NO ONLINE CANCELATION available for hotels! The website does not even state what to do to cancel hotel booking. The only cancellation available is for flight and train bookings!
I tried to call the "24/7" Customer Support number listen on the website. I kept on getting a no-reply for 2 days in a row and the automated voice asked to use the website for cancellation! On the third day someone actually picked up the phone to only tell me that he cannot help me and I would need to call another number/write an email as your Hotel Cancellation is handled by another department.
I asked for their phone number and he said its late in the night(India time) and no one will answer the call now(Is the service not 24/7) So I took the email ID instead. He gave me the wrong email ID. I had to go digging to find the right one.
I am surprised after they charged Rs.250 service fee! I mean WHAT SERVICE. It has left me with bitter experience.
