Just come back from Pontins Southport Oct 09. Was better than I expected after reading all the bad reviews on here. I agree the place needs a massive face lift, but its not as bad as people are making out on here. After reading all the reviews I was that concerned I rang pontins and nearly cancelled my booking, well I'm glad I didn't. The Accomodation was very very basic, but clean, you have no privacy so you need to keep your curtains closed, don't go expecting the 'ritz' because its far far from it, no microwave and no toaster, I though that these were one of lifes basics but obviously Pontins don't. The entertainment is very good and the Blue Coats are excellent. We didn't use the swimming pool but it looked OK, again very basic, not a modern pool. We have 2 boys aged 10 and 11 who both had a good time. Bar prices reasonable really for a holiday camp, £2.30 Fosters, £3.00 Murphys, £1.20 for Pepsi, Bar areas a bit past it and in desperate need of a refurb, especially the carpets. If you want a 5 star break then don't go, but if you want a BUDGET break then Pontins is the place for you, just don't go with high Expectations, and you'll enjoy.
