I was hit by an idito pulling out of a car park, I got details from an independent witness, took photos, got him to sign a statement accepting full liability, called the police to verify his insurance details, requested their attendance to the scene - turns out he was twice over the legal limit.

Had absolutely no problems with Admiral or their claims handling service. They were courteous and efficient, they even waived the need to pay the excess before they'd recovered it from the TP insurers.

All I can recommend is that you try to get the insurers as much info as possible that they can work with.
