The Lion King Review

We saw the Lion King on Friday 23rd October 2009. It was SUPERB!! We loved it! Our Kids loved it! It works on so many levels. We were most looking forward to the characters of Timon and Pumbaa - our kids loved the spin off series that these guys had. We found that the guy playing Timon, Nick Mercer, was excellent, BUT it seemed to us adults that he was jealous whenever Pumbaa, brilliantly played by Keith Bookman, won the heart of the audience. There are certain 'tricks' that can be employed by actors to kill their colleagues 'moments', and we couldn't help noticing that Nick would throw in a sudden movement to pull focus whenever Pumbaa had a comic moment. If you are reading this Nick - c'mon, stop this nonsense. He never once did it to you! The 'double act' can only work to it's true potential if there is no competitive element to it. You must know that. But what you might not know is that the more Timon loves Pumbaa, the more the audience loves Timon.

Apart from this, we thoroughly loved this show and would recommend it to ANYONE......
