I am due to renew my membership next week at Lincoln Total Fitness, for £423.50 which is described as a 'loyalty' rate. I was upset to see that prospective new members can join for 12 months for £325 at the moment. I don't feel that I am being rewarded for my loyalty at all :-(
I am looking around for another gym at the moment as I have not been happy with my experience at Lincoln. I have been a member there for 5 years and have seen a gradual decline in standards. When it was first built of course everything was shiny, new and great. The PM2 Concept 2 rowing machines are all worn out now, some with drag factors on setting 10 of only 60-70. Worse than that, frequently, it is not possible to use them because they are broken. Many other items of multigym equipment, when broken are not fixed quickly. Despite complaining to the manager several times, nothing has been done. The temperature of the swimming pool over the last few months has in my opinion, on several occasions been much lower than it should be. Whether this is a deliberate attempt to reduce energy costs, I am not sure. The Hydrotherapy pool jets are now much 'weaker' than previously. Soap dispensers in the changing rooms are frequently empty which is frustrating. Total Fitness never issue complimentary guest passes and over a year ago raised the price of bringing a casual guest in from £10 to £15. This is offputting. If they don't match the £325 offer for new members I am going to use another gym. Not recommended.
