The gym staff is very friendly and approachable. I have realised though that some can't imagine very well why a client would want to use one of the rare to find cleaning sprays and towels to clean a machine, and when trying to report or discuss issues, the front desk staff tends to acknowledge complaints, but it's very hard to get hold of the general manager who may not even exist.

The men's locker doors have been falling out of its fittings since months, and when I reported it to the shift manager I was told that they would go and have a look and get it fixed. I would expect the gym management to be proactive in the interest of the company and its clients. I did not expect Virgin Active's management policy would be to not make rounds to check the status of the company's equipments and installations, or not follow up to reports by the team (if ordered to report in the first place).

But that may explain why the entrance is often shabby looking, with cigarette buds and dirt at times. I can't remember the last time when that part was cleaned properly. I observed many times someone still sleeping just a foot outside the gym entrance on cardboard laid on the ground, even when the gym had been open for 1-2 hours already.

The in-house Spa is quite friendly, and they are not shy from recommending body and skin products, with which I have been quite pleased with so far. It's just awkward to using those products in the men's showers, because there is nowhere to put them solidly other than on the wet dirty ground.

As to the music, some members are older than 25 and would appreciate the choice of appropriate music or none, since most people bring with their ipod anyway. Unfortunately, this is not a place for someone who prefers to focus on his workout quietly without having their ears assaulted by teenie-tunes that keep replaying forever!

It always takes months for things to get resolved. I would not be surprised if this gym was paying overcharged music licensing fees to the Virgin group, so that little is left of the budget for management to run it properly.
