Recently purchased a 2006 registered car and used the £8.95 service which supposedly included a mileage check. Report which came back was absolutely useless. The mileage reported back was from Decemeber of 2006!! (approx 10K miles). The mileage of the vehicle (current) is 95K miles. What use is this?
I wanted to ensure that the current mileage reading is true and that the report would show the readings supplied by the vehicle's first MOT in January of this year (2009). The report also showed the vehicle as having had only 1 owner. - UNTRUE!. The vehicle had 2 previous owners and I am now the third.
After telephoning the customer care helpline (at a premium rate!) I was told that they could ' only supply data that had been reported to them...' and that they had offered a fair service to me I was asked what I wanted them to do about it (in quite a stroppy manner I might add). I reminded the advisor that I was the customer and not to lose his temper with me as I had a valid reason for complaint. I told them that I felt I had been misled by their advertising and that the servie that I had received was not worth the money that I had been charged. I asked for a refund. I was told that I could not have a refund as they had ' supplied me with valuable data ' . I was also told that if I wasn't happy to lodge a complaint with them.
I would strongly recommend that you think twice before lining their pockets and from my point of view, the service that they offer is a not worth wasting your money on.
I will be referring my complaint to Trading standards.
