This company, Marbles, is screwing its loyal long term customers who never default and always pay on time.

What price loyalty? A 33.9% interest rate is your distinctly unpalatable loyalty bonus!

My advice to anyone in this position is GET RID NOW. I am paying mine off ( along with MBNA who are charging nearer 35% ) in full. If you can't do that, make a balance transfer or take out a loan to pay it off.( Bear in mind there is no 3% balance transfer fee when you take out a loan and if you can get a fixed interest rate for the life of the loan you won't have to keep looking out for the sneaky massive interest rate rises!)

There is no need whatsoever to throw money at these people for no good reason. Basically, they are using their loyal good payers to subsidise their bad payers and defaulters. Not fair? No, but when was a bank or credit card company fair? Just work on the assumption that absolutely none of these people do fairness and you won't go wrong!

A word to the wise. Check ALL your credit card interest rates. Most of the credit card companies have adopted the same tactic, one of the worst offenders being MBNA who are behind several credit card companies. Virgin, Alliance and Leicester, etc. etc.

Believe me, they are mostly all at it! There are very few notable exceptions, but there are some good deals out there for new customers however you have to watch your interest rates ALL THE TIME!( along with all the new sneaky little strokes they are pulling, i.e 3% balance transfer fee etc, etc.).

Basically, the government have capped the credit card company's penalty charges and this is their way of clawing back the lost revenue from the bad payers from the good payers. Surprise, surprise, the government didn't think of that did they? It's the law of unintended consequences which we are stuck with until the government wakes up and closes off this loophle. Don't hold your breath, it may never happen, so take your own action now!

Good luck.
