I was in number 6 check in group. By the time I got on board the flight attendants were screaming that no one else could bring on carry on luggage. I, like an idiot, had CHECKED my luggage at $20. The luggage PENALTY was included when fuel prices shot up a year or so ago. Prices came down the American Airlines has NOT removed luggage PENALTY, or are likely to any time soon.
All the overhead bins were full, up to first class. The ones left had their stuff taken DOWN BELOW, I assume to be put in the hold. I did NOT note anyone having to produce $20.
By the time I got to my row, the bin was packed, by people not even seated near me. I had a small gift which was fragile and I was trying to fit it into the bin and the flight attendants began to scream at us to sit down, for we were late. If they and the ramp agents had not allowed all the passengers to drag aboard sometimes TWO free bags, it would have been much easier and quicker.
I am very tall and was horrified how close the seats were to the row in front. I travel often and have NOT seen such tight quarters.
Annoying food selling on board. A free soda, and thank the lord it was only a 3 hour flight. I was so uncomfortable the entire trip.
The plane smelled of farts the entire time also.
Dirty, beat, messy. The staff tired, bitter, so unpleasent to the crowds they are forced to deal with.
I love United, I love JetBlue, it will be a LONG time before I ever use American again..if ever.
