I was amazed ! I'd heard the stories, read the reviews and was expecting a load of rubbish. How wrong I was.

I've been to Paphos twice this year, the first flights in March with BA club Class and then again in October with Easy Jet and I can hand on heart tell you that Easy Jet would come out on top.

We travelled for my mothers 60th Birthday and I couldn't get 6 tickets on the BA flight in October so I had no choice but to take the Easy Jet option as we needed to be away for the Birthday.

The Easy jet aircraft are Ex BA and hence have the same seating arrangements, i.e. Blue leather with a 33in Seat pitch. So don't be put off with the idea you will be squeezed in, its not true. You get exactly the same amount of room on a BA club class ticket. The only difference being that in BA club they block off the middle seat of three so you get a bit more elbow room but not a wider seat.

We opted for the speedy boarding Plus which meant we had a dedicated check in, again exactly the same as BA club class, infact it was better in Paphos as it was open before the designated time so we didn't have to wait around as we did with BA.

It's a bit of a bun fight when boarding the plane but with Speedy boarding you get called first and have plenty of time to find a seat etc. We also boarded on stand via the bridge rather than the BA bus to the aircraft so again this was much much better. On both Easy jet flights we managed to get the exit rows so we had plenty of room and because the flight wasn't full we managed to keep a seat free in between us all so 9 seats between 6 which was great. Of course with BA online check in and the ground staff blocking seats for their mates you have no chance of getting these usually.

It's a 4 hour flight to Paphos and I was disappointed not to have any on board entertainment with BA, it makes it quite a boring flight. If we had nothing with BA club I certainly didn't expect anything with Easy jet so I was amazed when the screens came down and they showed episodes of Gavin and Stacey and a number of different travel programmes. You could buy head phones for £4 or use your standard MP3 player headset.

The food and drinks service was good, the staff where fun, polite and efficient. A hot bacon baguette and a star bucks coffee was £ 5.00 a coke was £1.50 so about the same as in the airport. OK it didn't come on a plate like BA but it was hot and edible.

The flight was delayed by 10 minutes each way due to ATC but the pilots made up the time en-route and we landed early so that was great.

I really was sceptical about this flight and mocked it as squeezy jet etc and told people how I wasn't looking forward to my orange flight. I assumed it was going to be like a Monarch flight (Now they are bad) So I felt it was only fair to let you know that if you're are a bit organised, get to the airport on time, spend the etc £10 on Speedy boarding plus you'll have a good flight with easy jet and get fantastic value for your hard earned money. The same flight on BA club was being sold for over £1000 return, it was over £500 for economy, my easyjet ticket was less than £200.00 including luggage, speedy boarding, and on board spending money and a full breakfast in the airport before we left. The Club ticket in March cost just over £300.00 so in its self was good value but I can honestly tell you that next time I go to Cyprus or anywhere short haul in Europe I'll be checking out Easy Jet before BA.

Happy Travels
