We stayed in Edinburgh last year for a long weekend, and decided to visit the castle - you have to really, especially if you've never been before. The walk up to the entrance of the castle made you feel like you were on a film set, walking over cobbled stones towards the large gateway. Close up the castle looks magnificent.
I think we both paid about £13 each to get in, which we considered to be an ok price. We walked around for about an hour and a half soaking up all the Scottish history and culture on offer and venturing into the creepy dungeons hoping to catch a glimpse of a ghost or two.
There is a lot to see and do, with fantastic photo opportunities not only of the castle but equally of the views sweeping over the beautiful city of Edinburgh.
