I have been with the Halifax since I was 18 and this was only because it was the nearest bank that I went to. My husband and I now have 3 accounts with them.
They used to be fair and helpful, but now they are simply greedy. They charged me £35 for going overdrawn (Sky increased my direct debit without telling me). I was overdrawn by about £1 and they added a further £27 on top of this purely because they are greedy - and they take it in the same month, giving you NO time to get more funds to cover the extortionate 'admin' charge.
Now they are charging £1 a day for going into your overdraft!! And are doing this just before Christmas when they KNOW that this is when most people will go overdrawn.
They are stealing money from hardworking customers. I believe that people will leave the Halifax in droves. They clearly see profits before customer loyalty.
I'll be changing accounts in December.
