Bathstore was appealing for a mid-market bathroom, as in the sale it was slightly cheaper than competitors such as Homebase or B&Q, and its range was wider. I bought the big sanitary items (sink, loo, bath…) as it is expensive for accessories (taps, shower screens etc.) compared to internet retailers. Sales and marketing are good - very clear website and catalogue, glossy shop and helpful staff made ordering easy. Delivery was on time, but be careful as Bathstore use single-driver lorries, so you must have help to carry big items. And the driver will not lug any items inside the house, only to the doorstep.

The major problem was product quality, as some items have been badly designed or manufactured:

> The flush on the loo does not spring back when used and stays depressed, so you have to lift it back into position.
> On the bath, one of the holes cut out for the taps is too big so the tap does not sit vertically but leans to one side (like a cork rammed in at an angle into a wine bottle).
> The sink and pedestal have a flawed design so they are not flush when they meet. When the weight of the sink is on the front side of the pedestal, there is very noticeable half-inch gap at the back (much more noticeable if you look at them sideways on).

Unlike for others on here, Bathstore tried their best with customer service. I wrote a complaint letter about the biggest bugbear, the sink pedestal, to their regional office and the local Bathstore then quickly delivered a replacement and arranged a bathroom fitter free of charge. But since the design of the suite is intrinsically flawed, the replacement made no difference. The goods are only a few months old, so I have no idea how the suite will last under wear and tear in the next few years.

Bathstore has slick marketing; customer service seems to be luck of the draw; but product design/quality is in my experience a major problem. I would not use Bathstore again.
