Swinton - Thoroughly incompetent or intentionally deceitful?

Absolutely dreadful company, without a doubt the worst I have ever dealt with. I got my Car policy with Swinton (or as Swindlers as I have come to not-so-affectionately known them as) as they seemed to be the cheapest around. I received a letter a week after my policy was set up saying that my policy was to be cancelled as I hadn't sent my no-claims information. Every other insurer finds this out for themselves, and doest rely on the policy holder to send it to them. When I called them to discuss they allowed me no time to send it through and were extremely rude to me.

When my policy was cancelled, I received a letter indicating that I owed them £30. I paid this money immediately, as I wanted to move on and use a different insurer.

Two weeks later I received a letter telling me to pay the money or have the case sent to a debt collection agency. I called up again and explained the debt had been paid they agreed, said it was an admin error and I considered the matter closed.

Two further letters arrived asking for this cancellation payment, after each, I called the branch to complain. Finally today I receive a court summons from their debt collection agency.

I have now sent formal complaints to Swinton and contacted the financial service ombudsman.

They are either extremely incompetent or were willingly trying to extort money from me. I can only imagine what they are like if you are trying to get money from them! I'd wager they wouldn't send that cheque through more than once!!!

To summarize DO NOT USE! THEY ARE INCOMPETANT/THIEVING CRETINS!!! I wouldn't trust them to insure my left sock for a tuppence.
