We booked three Silver Plus apartments for September this year and having not been to Butlins for at least 20 years, we read some of the previous reviews on this site. We were really appalled by some of them and I therefore wrote to Butlins outlining some of our concerns. We received a very nice letter within a couple of weeks in which they tried to allay some of our fears. However, we were still almost dreading what we would find on arrival only to find extremely clean apartments (one of which was upgraded to a three bedrooms one, which was handy for our family situation)and the site as a whole was clean, tidy and well maintained. OK, the accommodation is a bit basic but we had everything we needed. (Yes .. the apartment smelled ..... of new paint and carpets!) In the Skyline Pavilion there were loads of cleaning staff, and you hardly ever saw any rubbish, and if you did it was cleared away virtually immediately. The swimming pool was great although they could do with more family changing rooms. Our only concern is the safety and security of the apartments. The windows can easily opened by children and it was OK for us as we did not need to have them open at night but in the summer you would probably have to and children can then easily get out .... or even worse, someone could get in! They could do with small window 'lights'. Also the doors are not lockable from the inside and although two of our apartments had safety chains, one did not and our toddler grandchildren kept trying to escape! So .... safety chains on all doors, please Butlins! We enjoyed the beach, which is literally across the road, 5 minutes away and again is very clean. On the whole, a very good experience and we said we will probably return in a couple of years.

Center Parcs - Review - Centre Parcs Oasis Windfell Forest
Centre Parcs say that is was due to refurbishment, I beleive it was due to labour costs at this quiet time of the year. Albeit still great choice in the eating department.
