I bought my xbox 360 console when they first came out. I absolutely loved it, the draw back is the first consoles never had hdmi ports fitted and the fans were very noisy not to mention the size and weight of the power brick. Problems with overheating are common with earlier ones and after two and a half years I got my first ring of death. Microsoft fixed it for free under the extended warranty of three years. They put in a new motherboard and it was fine up to two days ago when I got my second ring of death in less than 12 months and microsoft now want to charge me £80 to fix it. I have purchased a new console and it is quieter and the power supply is light with breather holes to allow easy cooling, they have also improved the cooling system and heat sink in the new machines. I love xbox but just be aware of the pitfalls before you buy them and read up on reliabilty. Microsoft customer support aren't to helpful when you are sending consoles back for repair and repairs can take up to three weeks to fix and return. I now have a brand new console but there is always that fear of witnessing those dreaded three red flashing lights appearing on my new console. This review is based on my first console and not the console I bought yesterday.

    Is this the problem?
    My son's one was sent back within the one year warranty which took months to solve the problem with many calls made only to get a call centre not understanding English without a manager. Since then the process does not take quite so long but we have had to return it at least three times and each time the console has been returned when I gently unpack it ther seems to be a noise like a loose screw inside.
    When it was last collected I was told by the courier that all he ever seems to collect are X Box's.
    Microsoft should have made a re-call for them.
    When it works he loves it and now that we have all the accessories we can't afford to let them go to waste by replacing it with Play station.
