I have recently had to make a claim on my policy. It took 4 months before the first payment was made, although they were back dated but excluded the first 30 days.
My concern is that payments from this policy are made for 2 years as long as I am signing on for Job seekers allowance.

However if I'm on Job seekers for over 6 months then I go on to a non contribution based job seekers allowance, at which point I have been told that if job centre find a job that they deem is suitable for me at minimum national wage then I am obliged to accept it.

If I refuse then I will be signed off. Which of course means my mortgage protection payments will cease because i would not be registered for Job seekers allowance. But accepting a job at minimum wage will not provide me with the income to pay my mortgage which would mean I would default on mortgage and possibly run the risk of losing my home.

So my question is, Obviously the Halifax know this situation with the social security service so do I have an issue with the Halifax for knowingly selling me a policy that they know I will not be able to receive the full benefit of?
