I have just returned from 12 nights at the Reef Oasis Beach and I have to say that I really liked it. It is however not without its faults but nothing that ruined the holiday in any way. This was my 8th holiday in Egypt in the last 5 years so have had a bit of experience as to what to expect. What winds me up from peoples reviews is when they start moaning that a hotel " is no way a 5 star", well of course its not 5 star UK, its 5 star Egypt...deal with it! Anyway, the good bits..... The hotel itself is quite large and they have little golf buggies running up and down the main drag to save you walking to the beach etc which is a nice touch. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you won't get any hassle from the onsite shop owners. The local drinks are not too bad, I would go as far as saying their lager (Saqqara) is very good although not too strong. The hotel rooms are more than adequate and clean. Our toilet stopped working and they fixed it very quickly. Beach and pools are great and the snorkelling is some of the best I have done in Egypt. The beach restaurant is good although they pretty much do the same thing daily, chips, pizza and fish sticks, but that was fine and convenient if you are on the beach and need a bite. They also have waiter wandering up and down the beach taking drink orders wich I also liked. The entertainment I could take or leave personally. They have to cater for multiple nationalities and that makes the job rather difficult and under the circumstances they probably do a good job, but its not for me. In a nutshell the complex as a whole is lovely and I never felt crowded even though the hotel was full. Now here are my little whinges...The food in the main restaurants weren't as hot as it should be so you sort of get used to lukewarm meals. I found the variety OK considering how many they were catering for but it just wasnt hot enough. Tea and coffee facilities are not in the room and are charged extra if you want this, which I though was a bit stupid as its free at the bar. Same goes for the mini bar / fridge in the room which was empty, even a bottle of water on arrival in the fridge would have been a help. These complaints may sound a bit paltry but I have had them everywhere else I have stayed. Internet access is available but again is charged for and not particularly cheap but I guess thats a choice we have to make! The main gripe is the food though.

One thing about Egypt, drink plenty of fluids. A lot of people get unwell and blame the country but sometimes its about managing dehydration. You can't drink too much water out there! And PLENTY of sun cream.

Anyway, Reef Oasis Beach...would I go back...Absolutely and I plan to go again next year.
