We took out insurance with Direct Line as, in theory, they would accept a substantial existing no claims bonus on a policy for another car and were the cheapest to insure a 17 year old as a named driver. They subsequently reneged on the application of the no claims bonus, which although annoying simply means that we are taking our business elsewhere.

So no real comment on the value for money but the customer service during these various 'negotiations' was absolutely appalling. Letters either did not explain the situation or contained errors. Getting through on the telephone takes ages - over 25 mins - and the so called consultants could not deal with anything non-standard. So if your situation conforms then fine - if not forget it!
