Below is a copy of the letter that I sent to Doyouspain (agent) and RecordGo (rental company) following what can only be classed as a complete farce on our recent visit to spain. As like most reviews for these companys on this site, no reply has been received from either. I would never book a car again with Doyouspain or would never want to drive anything that Recordgo has on their fleet, please make up your own minds!

I feel the need to write to you following what can only be called a "fiasco" regarding a car rental booked through yourselves on a recent trip to Majorca. I know the booking was quite last minute as we were waiting to see if one of our party would be able to attend due to a serious illness in her family. When she could not and the party stood at 5 we decided car hire might be the best option. Our booking reference was DYS-5423990. On our arrival at Majorca Airport 2 of us went straight to the car rental desk to join the queue and that is where we stood for 2 hours and 45 minutes after 2 hours of waiting I decided to call the RECORD GO head office to see why the waiting was so long as we seemed to be moving nowhere, they apologised for the delay and offered a 10% discount, just over 35 euros which now reduced the rental price to 318 euros. When we eventually got to the desk we were told that they were waiting for a car to be prepared, there we stood for another 20 mins. Then we were asked to pay and were quoted 380.16 euros, I questioned the price and was told we needed to pay for a tank of fuel, having now had enough we paid their price and headed off to get the car. We were given the keys to a Citroen Berlingo that was in a very poor state, black marks all over it where stickers had been removed, a badly damaged back bumper, a huge tow bar sticking from the rear and a terrible smell of oil inside the car. We reported the state of the car back to the office staff and were told that "all our cars are damaged" and we should not be concerned. We then left the airport to go to our hotel, which was only 20 mins away and realised that fumes were leaking into the car, making our eyes water and throats sore. We decided that it was too dangerous to use and we would call them first thing on Monday morning to say that the car was not roadworthy and we would like to change it. On calling we were told it was not a problem, take it back to the airport and the staff there would change it. This we did and they showed us to a Peugeot Partner that looked in a lot better condition than the one we had before so we accepted this in exchange and left. We soon noticed a loud grinding noise when turning the steering wheel like the power steering was failing and the car kept stalling for no reason, we went back to our hotel to see if it would be better when warmed up, it was not so the first thing we did the next morning, Tuesday, was to return yet again to demand that the car be changed as its condition was dangerous. We told them of the problems we had been having and eventually they said that the one we had returned would be taken off the road and checked at the garage before being rented out again. They then issued us with a Ford Focus Estate that seemed ok but we thought that we may struggle to get all our luggage into it when we were due to return to the airport. They said that this was the only other option they had so we had to take it or be left with nothing at all. We accepted the car and used it for the rest of our stay, we did struggle with luggage space and the passengers in the back did have some on their knees but we did not have too far to travel back to the airport so we managed ok. We left the car at the airport and left for home under no illusion that this is the worst hire car experience any of us had ever had. You need to be made aware that this company, Record GO, are breaching virtually everything that you advertise on your website. Prices All Inclusive with No Hidden Costs? We paid 380 EUR but were quoted 353 EUR and on top of that given a 10% discount for the delay so we should only really have paid 318 EUR. Safe, clean and reliable cars? 2 were definitely not safe or reliable and all 3 were definitely not clean. Low Kilometres? They all had high kilometres on them. Brand new cars? It has been a long long time since any of these saw a showroom. I don't want to have any problems, Please? We had problems for the 1st 4 days of our holiday, not just 1 day, but 4 days. You state also that you only use the most trusted of car hire companies but please trust me, this one is NOT one of them. I know this won't go down as a great testimonial on your site, or even "as a" testimonial on your site but I really do hope that it makes you aware of them Car Hire CowBoys.
