I had a crash im my KA (someone pulled of their drive straight into my path) the poor little car splattered all over the road, as it wasnt my fault i thought this would be a straight forward claim and i would get a new car fairly quickly (the KA was only 9 months old and the garage said it was a total write off) to my suprise direct line didnt think so! Although i was paying a heafty premium for fully comp insurance i then found out i wouldnt get a courtesy car while the KA was being repaired, This was an additional extra that i wasnt told about! after waiting 6 months to be repaired at a cost of over £5000 i final got it back - (spares are obviously hard to find for such a rare car as the Ford KA) the car needed the whole front end (both radiators, battery, headlights, wings and a bonnet, bumpers etc..) a dashboard and a windscreen!. when i sold the car (we had bought another car while it was off the road) it sold for £4,800 - the insurance did not cover uninsurable losses either! i basicaly lost £3000 in just over a year,to add insult to injury the car was no longer covered by the Ford 3 year garantee as it had missed its 1st yearly service! I would never use direct line ever again nor would i ever buy another Ford! i would estimate 50 phone calls and 20 letters were sent to direct line and ford trying to get my car back on the road! PS the standard of workmanship of the repair was terrible too!
