Bought my hw97k some three months ago after reading loads of reviews looking at top end springers (using sites such as this)! What can I say, this rifle is a super bit of kit!

Yes it's a tad on the heavy side but fine for adults and older teenagers. Younger kids will probably struggle holding and cocking. I fitted a sling which is almost mandatory when shooting in the field for any length of time.

The stock looks very smart with its decorative laser cut 'dimples' but I find this relatively soft so be careful of knocks and dents if you want to keep your stock in pristine condition.

Don't expect your best groupings straight out of the box either, have some fun, get used to your new purchase and feed some lead through the barrel. After 500 - 1000 pellets, things begin to settle down as the trigger and piston wear in. Accuracy is superb if you put the effort in - when taking a shot DON'T grip this rifle (or any other springer for that matter) just hold the stock loosely in your hands and allow that recoil to be absorbed, makes all the difference trust me.

I use a one piece scope mount with integral recoil pin but this is not really necessary on this rifle. I measured my power at 12ft pounds exactly with RWS superdomes using my club chrono, so be weary please. Perhaps this is just the case in my example but as it is straight out of the box unmodified, I will need to keep a close eye on power in the future.

The trigger can be adjusted for a lighter release but be careful, adjusting the protruding screw too far will prevent the barrel from locking, so carefully does it. I have mine adjusted lighter than the factory setting and this was very easy to achieve. Just remember to use a decent screwdriver to prevent damaging the adjustment screw.

From my experience so far, I see no other reason why I would need to part with this lovely bit of German engineering, built to last for sure. If you do decide to buy one, it's really worth splashing out that little bit extra cash, this one's a keeper!
