Hi!

I own a Seat Leon from 2004, manufactoring year 2003. I have never been happy with the way, the gearbox works on this car. The first 2 years everything was fine, but hereafter shifting gears between 1. and 2. started to become a struggle. Gearbox is fine at first, but after 20 miles, when the car has run warm, your are struggling with it. It feels as though you have to shove it in to gear, especially when shifting into 1. gear at a red light.

Now the other day running at 5 miles an hour, coming from a parking lot, a loud Bang shuts the enigne off (revit?). Someting came loose but i can start the engine. It starts to raddle from the left/front side of the car and sometimes a banging sound can be heard.

I talk to my mechanic and we agree that he schould check the clutch for maybe a broken clutch spring, as it sounded like coming from the gearbox / engine area. (what do i know??)

Well gearbox pulled off engine and there is no fault to the clutch!? The mechanic told me that there where nearly no oil in the box and it looked it had been leaking out at some point (when the revit broke?). I'm not gonna pay for the mechanic to open up the gearbox, to verify the fault. Just ordered the car repaired for £1400 (New gearbox not recon.) ...

Dont get a recon. gearbox ... they all have the same fault. Its not worth saving a few £, as it will break again!!
