Hi . i have just brought a regal rapter dd125e (new 2009 model)as a commuter to go to work over the winter while my triumph hibernates.I have had a suzuki marauder 125 previously so i can compare the two.I don,t know about the old water cooled engine but this new two cylinder air cooled engine is far superier than the single pot suzukis however the ajs choke has little or no effect and can be a problem as you can,t start the engine with the kick stand down therefore unable to let the beastie warm up. But when it is warm its faster and has more hill pulling grunt for a 125 as the single pot bikes just can,t pull up hills (and i,m 17 stone). The handling is superier on the ajs as are the brakes (obviously having twin front discs and a rear disc)and the build quality is,nt to far off its japanese cousin. But the gearbox is more vague and the suzuki is easier to change gear with a more notchy feel.In an ideal world i would like an ajs with the suzuki gearbox and aftermarket spares availability. But out of the two bikes the suzuki just noses ahead ""BUT"" at £2600 compared to £1700 for the ajs you just can,t ignore the extras you get with the ajs ( sissy bar , twin cylinder engine , twin front discs , disc rear brake , and cats in the exhaust for those eco friendly types ). So is it the bike to buy, YES YES YES , just make sure your dealer is close by so you can get your spares , and attack it with wd 40 during the wet season (better a dirty bike than a rusty one).Another tip is change its front sprocket for one with an extra tooth. This realy makes a difference when sitting at 55, it dos,nt scream its head off. My dealer recommended it and if you haggle he,ll chuck it on free and it does make i big difference.Hopfully at its first service they,ll sort the choke out i,ll keep you posted and good luck and happy biking whatever you ride , cheers chris

This a good review. I have been looking at bike reviews most of the morning.

But do I get one of these? I'm still not sure.

Yes, an oily bike, is better than a rusty one.

Chris
