In April of this year I put my son with a provisional licence as a named driver on my Clio 1.2 for £35 per month as this was the cheapest quote I had found. In July he passed his test and Quinn put my insurance up to £138 per month! I rang customer service and asked how much it would be to cancel the policy and was told £35 cancellation fee. At beginning of September I cancelled my direct debit and also rang to cancel the policy. A few days later I received a letter from Quinn saying I owed £242!!

After ringing and trying to understand the customer services representative, explaining what the previous guy had said, she wasn't at all interested, but said she would send me a copy of my monthly statement. My understanding was that they would reassess my bill, but it has just arrived stating again that I owe £242.

I can understand maybe a charge of £137 for Septembers payment plus the £35 cancellation fee but to add a further £70 on top is very annoying and frustrating because us, as the consumer, never seem to win in these situations.

Insurance company are very cheap for provisional drivers, but the increase when they pass is astronomical - a rip off!

I would certainly think twice about using this company but if you do, just make sure you pay monthly direct debit so that you have the option to cancel, albeit at a ridiculous cost!
