while i do agree that the Pearl EX kit sounds good, it definitely isn't "top of the line." i own it and i love it. but, it sure isn't one of the top kits out there. with some good heads (i use remo pinstripe, clear. with remos rings), and some tuning, the toms can sound really good. i bought the fusion kit with 10, 12, and 14 inch toms. i found that the 14 just isn't low enough for what i want to play. so, i bought a 16x16 floor tom to go with it. overall, it's a decent kit. and certainly a good first kit. but it's not really on par with actual top of the line kits.

as far as looks, it's one of the better looking sets i've played. in my opinion anyway. mine is jet back with back hardware. and, i dig the all black look of it. it has a very simple look which i appreciate. not too flashy.

i would recommend this kit to the beginner or intermediate player for a solid practice kit. or even playing some shows. but, for the drummer who really wants a high end kit with a high end sound, it's not for you. but, if you're in the market for that type of kit, you already know that.
