The term 'looks can be decieving' can be applied to this peugeot jetforce 50 bike as it looks a mean machine, but its performance doesn't match up to it's looks for a number of reasons. The bike does have 5/5 for looks and it is definately one of the safest bikes i've ever ridden, its breaks system is as responsive as a twitch of a finger. In the whole time that I owned this bike my wheels didn't lock once.
The bike was new when I had purchased it so therefore I had to run it in in order to remove the restrictor. Riding around at the top speed of 45 with the restrictor was quite a pain for a while but as soon as the restrictor came off I barely noticed any differance. The acceleration of the bike was poor to begin with and when I had the restrictor removed I noticed barely any difference. The only difference I did notice was that my speedometer needle was shaking frantically at 55kmph instead of 45 (10kmph after the bike's restrictor has been removed, not much difference).
The Bikes design does look pretty cool I must admit, but the bikes size and weight makes it seem as if it is a 125cc moped, but the truth is it isn't. The positioning of the gas tank is completely innapropriate as you aren't able to carry anything inbetween your legs, and if the gas is at the front of the bike, what occupies the rear of the bike? Had the bikes design been for a 125cc instead of a 50cc it would have made sense.
Whilst In town I was almost forcefully stuck to my bike because of the petrol tank, the petrol tank doesn't allow you to jump off the side of the bike in case of any emergancy and if the bike topples over you, you have no choice but to try and remove your legs from under the gas tank(Providing that the gas tank hasn't already broken your leg).
This is the perfect bike for those who aren't bothered about speed nor performance and are more bothered about trying to look good to compensate for the lack of performance. This bike stands no chance against other bikes of the same caliber. The Yamaha Aerox for instance overtakes this bike easily as well as the Jog models.
If this bike is being purchased for a first time rider it is all very good and safe, but if you dont want to be left behind for a number of different reasons ( speed, performance, style & reliability )this simply isn't the bike for you.
If this bike was a 125cc 2stroke bike, It would get 5/5 for almost every category, but the truth is, its a 50cc engine placed in the skeleton of the 125cc Jetforce model.
