had insurance with p/o for 7 years never claimed wanted to change policy to my van told they cant insure me for van with no explanation. 4 months into policy don't want to cancel just change over to another vehicle for some reason they wont .have sold car so they are giving me no choice but to go elsewhere and for the privilege have got pay them £77.so really I'm not canceling I'm being forced into a situation where i have to pay them for insurance cover on a vehicle i no longer own or am insured to drive .is that morally or legally right .if they gave me a valid reason why they wont insure me might have felt a bit beter about the situation.suport your local post ofice my ass NOT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi there mate, i work in insurance for a number of years, and p/office is right they cannot change a policy over from a private car policy to a van insurance policy, now what they should of offered you, is the option to get a quote for a new 12monthly policy for the van, if you accept this price, then p/office will cancel your car policy and waive the cancellation charges applied. they have too, as you have taken out a new 12month contract with them. if you were not given that option mate, i suggest you call them ( i take it you have already cancelled the policy and been charges the £77) then complain to a t/leader ( dont bother with c/s advisors) and complain. state you were not given this option, youll probs have to take it further with the customer relations team mate, but state to them "all insurers must treat every one of there customers the same" if you havent been given this option, therefore you have been treat unfairly. happy days ull get a refund for cancellation charge. if they try and fog you off, just then state ull go to FOS, they change their tune
