I have held the ASDA credit card for over 3 years now, and use it regularly for food shopping, for fuel, for direct purchases and for on-line purchasing. I have had only one problem in all this time, when a real non-ASDA purchase went wrong. I paid for items (wall tiles) to be ordered in, over £100 so within s.75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, and after 3 months the shop still couldn't deliver, so I demanded my money back. I had told ASDA about the dispute, but still they put charges on my account. When I asked why, they said the transaction had gone through. When I sent them the paperwork showing the refund, so clearly the transaction had NOT "gone through", they relented, and removed the charges - but in two stages involving several credits and debits that made no sense to me (I only have a business degree, so things like accounts are *far* too complicated for me to understand...) and still managed to lose 9 pence. But with ASDA, 9 pence is probably the smallest charge you will pay :o)

FAR more serious is their on-line account access. After 5 days now of trying to get in, three calls to the customer ser-farce centre and lots of hanging on at 10p/minute, I have elicited the response "there's something wrong with the web-site..." Gosh ! Really ?? Wow, thank GOODNESS they spotted that for me...

I recall when the on-line access was first launched - they didn't get it right then either. "It won't be up and running until May..." June came and went... July, August... Eventually it launched, but come on, when every other retailer can get its act together, there is NO excuse for ASDA's dismal performance. Good job my on-line bank isn't like ASDA. RBS One Account - wonderful service - no major errors that I can recall and only one or two trifling ones soon rectified (amidst profuse apologies), excellent service, I have used them for everything including house purchase, for over 7 years.

Like others here, I too am moving to regular use of another card. ASDA is fine when it works. Problem is, right now, it doesn't...
