Elephant insurance are very good if you don't make a claim. Their prices are good and the documents arrive promptly and are correct; hence my two stars as some insurers just don't seem to be able to get correct documents out. Also the folks you phone are UK based.
However I had to make a no-fault claim and here things went downhill fast. Elephant wasn't interested in repairing my car and claiming back the costs from the third party. Instead they said as it was a 'no-fault' claim, I MUST use their so called 'legal help' company Albany Assistance. They were useless; even telling me at one point that they were not allowed to make outgoing calls to the third-party's insurance company and wouldn't get through anyway! All they will tell you is that they are 'waiting to hear back from the insurers'. They said it would take 12 weeks to get a reply back from the TP insurers ! As I did not want to drive around in a damaged car for months, in the end I handled the claim myself with the TP insurance company who were very helpful and my car was repaired etc. very quickly while Albany Assistance still show my claim status as a 'New' claim !
I have also read that Elephant have some sharp practice over renewals whereby they charge you the renewal premium anyway whether you want to renew or not, and then charge you a cancellation fee if you try to go elsewhere. I have not experienced this yet myself as I have not tried to change yet; we'll see !
