I have just been charged £12 for going over my limit even though i was not aware i had.When i checked my balance last week i was £1 under my limit so obviously did not use the card, however when i checked this morning i found i was £3 over my limit because of a tranaction made over 2 weeks ago.Surely the card payment would be declined if the funds are not available. I am not so much concerned about the £12 charge( which incidentally Vanquis have refunded, it's more the fact that this now appears on my credit report as "adverse" which when trying to re establish a good credit profile is not at all helpful.
