Again I have fallen prey to Unicom's 3 year roll on contract scam. My contract was due to run out in December 2008. I moved premises in May 2008 and couldn't take the number with me as the STD code was different. I phoned Unicom and was told the contract was for another 6 months so I stuck to my promise and hounered the contract by diverting the number to my mobile while the 3 year deal was still in place. At no time did any of the Unicom team inform me of the 3 month termination term before the end of the 3 year deal. In fact, they told me that it would only take 5-7 days to cancel after the 3 year period of the contract. They now want £822.76 to end my 3 year roll on automatic re start. If I left the line on a rental only basis it would only cost me £12 a month for the next 27 months. That's £500 less than a cancellation fee. Further more, I have told all my friends and family how much it has saved me over the years. I do hope they didn't take my good advice. What can I do other than cancel my direct debit and run for the hills! This is bad business practice at it's worst.
