My husband and I decided two years ago that we would simply prefer to pay a little bit more to fly on an airline that felt a little bit more quality. "You get what you pay for" running through our minds... This year, we went on a vacation with some extended family, a total of 6 people, and the airline choice was kind of made for us. "No big deal," we thought... "Save a little money, it's been two years since flying AirTran, perhaps it's not as bad as we remembered."

WRONG! Yeah, so we saved $50/ticket. But for the 6 of us combined, to and from our vacation destination, we spent $600 JUST IN CHECKED BAGGAGE! What?! True, we had a lot of bags, but for a 10-day vacation for 6 adults, what do you expect?? The staff was horrendously rude about the amount of bags we had (8 in total for the 6 of us) and the fact that we were all flying as a group.

Then we get on the planes, and in both directions, the planes are dirty. Crumbs in the seats, used tissues and napkins stuffed in the pockets, the bathrooms stink.... When we arrived home and we had a BROKEN and unusable suitcase (that was new to begin with) the "person" in the baggage office gave me a cardboard BOX and attempted to send me on my way - no apology, no nothing.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO POINT to AirTran. If you are going to wind up spending an arm and a leg to check your baggage and you are going to be miserable on the flight, why bother?! "Budget" does not have to mean that you sacrifice quality to such an extreme. And in the end, THERE WAS NO SAVINGS MONEY-WISE! The label of "budget airline" and advertising low prices is just a gimmick.
