I too wish i'd read these reviews. My old phone broke so i needed a cheap new one, just for sending texts and making the odd call--i thought this would be a bargain as it looked fairly good. Plus, as a student i got £10 off, so it was only £19!
Unfortunately, the price showed. The interface is terrible, the buttons are too small, it's a nightmare to insert and take out the sim (even the guys at the orange shop managed to destroy a sim card trying) and overall this phone is abysmal.
Particularly annoyed by the lack of a simple "ringing" ringtone and an alert tone for messages.
The "eZitext" predictive-text function is awful-- there's no way to store your own words into the dictionary, so i can't even have a default "xxx" for the end of my messages. Texting is supposed to be quick, n'est-ce pas? This totally isn't. Also, there's no Abc function-- it's either ABC SO YOUR MESSAGES ARE ALL IN CAPS. or abc so that everything's in lower case. even after a full stop.
A further problem with the text messaging is the fact that anything longer the 70 characters counts as two messaages. Yes, that's less than half the standard length for messages.
It's ridiculous.
I tried to return it... Orange won't. Despite the fact the the quality is much lower than i'd except for the price (back in 2000 i got a phone for £4.99 on orange that worked better than this!) and i'd argue that it's not fit for purpose (as my purpose is sending texts that are a normal, practical length).
Particularly bothersome as i've been a loyal customer of Orange for 9 years.
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.
