My daughters bought me a pair of earrings from Fraser Hart for my 50th birthday. The earrings are beautiful gold and topaz. However, after only 14 months one earring had completely worn away on the link that connects the main earring and the piece that goes through the ear and the second earring was about to wear through.

My daughters took them back and were quoted a repair fee of £25. When we heard nothing from the shop for 6 weeks, my daughter called Fraser Hart and was told they would cost £125.00! I called the shop and was told jewellry was guaranteed for a year but that they would look 'kindly' on certain cases when it was just over a year. Unfortunately we cannot find the receipt, however the shop assistant was able to find a receipt on the PC but that, apparently isn't good enough. I cannot believe that 14 months for a £200 pair of earrings is acceptable for them both to wear away like that! I am so disappointed as I cannot pay that amount of money and feel that what was a lovely present from daughters should turn out to cause this much trouble. I am currently looking into what my legal position is.
