We were called by space kitchens last week saying that they were looking to supply a 'free' kitchen in our area and that it would be put into their magazine, we were thinking of having a new kitchen anyway and didn't have anything to lose by having someone come and quote.
A rep arrived an hour late at 6pm, We set her down at the kitchen table and talked through what we would like as they provided a 'bespoke service', although it soon became apparent that if it is not in the brochure then they don't sell it, we wanted a kitchen TV and we also wanted a resin worktop and sink, after calling her manager he still didn't have a clue what a resin worktop was. We found one cupboard door that we liked from their whole range and to be honest we probably could have got better from B&Q. After 3 hours and with 2 children going off to bed we decided that enough was enough, I had been at work all day and had still not eaten and the rep was nowhere near even quoting us (us knowing very well that it would not be the kitchen that we wanted as it was no different to any other kitchen that we could buy off the shelf). At one point through the 3 hours I was asked whether I would be looking at spending more or less that £20k, I said less of course, we don't have a massive kitchen and this was with a standard worktop, they didn't know what resin was so couldn't quote for that.
We should have known straight away that a bespoke company would have arrived with a laptop and would have given their clients the respect that they deserve, measured the kitchen and gone away to produce a design to suit us, give us the price and then give is the time to make a decision.
Once we asked the rep to leave to do her drawings at home and then come back to us with a price tomorow she told us to just carry on with what we were doing and leave her in the kitchen. This was 9pm! She would have quite hapily stayed til 11pm I am sure. We were told that we had wasted her time when in fact she had wasted our time, we genuinely want a new kitchen but would never dream of buying from spacekitchens.co.uk.
