the ticking from the outside box means the batteries are flat.
change them, it stops.
all the batteries will probably need changing every 9 months or so.
That would be my recommendation to fix any glitches, if that doesn't work, probably go back to B&Q, as the customer service number in the keypad doesn't work.
but the Wirefree Family Alarm MM80780 is an easy trade off for either tacking wires around your ceilings, or digging holes in your walls...
