I didn't fly economy with EVA but Premium Economy - even so, the negative reviews on this site are a surprise to me. My son lives in Bangkok and always goes economy with EVA and swears by them! I loved my flight - enjoyed the service (slight lack of movie choice)and the Asian food (my personal choice of diet) was excellent. Knowing they have a 100 per cent safety record also was reassuring as I'm a mildly nervous passenger. Everything went to schedule, too. I would recommend EVA to any traveller - much better than my experiences with the stumbling British Airways airline.
