We have just returned from our third visit to Whinfell in 18 months, and this will be the last. The accommodation this time was disgusting, not just a bit grubby but so filthy the children (2 and 5) could not play on the carpet with their toys.
The swimming pool was also dirty and needing upgrading. The whole park felt shabby and needing upgrading. The ducks were swimming in a lake filled with rubbish and everywhere was covered in fag butts. I realise it is end of season, but they should never have allowed the place to fall so quickly.
This was not a cheap holiday, but having travelled through Asia backpacking and staying in some rather dodgy hostels, I would swap for one of those anyday. The bedrooms smelt of urine and sweat. The sheets were dirty and stained. The paintwork was a total disgrace and the place was so dirty. A bottle of bleach (that i had to buy!) and several hours later and the place was still gross. NEVER AGAIN!!!
