I would recomend this Suzuki Burgman 650 scooter at the top of the tree for any commuting / touring. I have covered 93000 on my blue one and 66000 on my silver one. The only downfall with these 650 burgmans is the belt drive at 50000 miles. I suspect they never get looked at in the maintence schedule as it's an engine out job just to inspect it let alone replace it.
