I was on POF about 15 months but left earlier this year after they disabled their instant messenger function. Other free sites have that function so I went to them instead.
POF has quite a range of potential partners. However I feel its size is its own undoing - there are simply too many choices shall we say. Just my experience but I'd rather have one close person to get to know than 20 diluted versions. I did meet some from the site so yes they are real, but they were strangely enough, people who had just left the site !
It is a decent site for a freebie, but just don't expect too much.
