I was on a tour when someone suggested Kumuka to me. Backpacking and tents is not for me so I disregarded the suggestion until my travel agent told me that Kumuka are a comparative alternative to Contiki. Well at 28 I felt I was getting too old for Contiki so I gave Kumuka a go. I booked a short European trip having previously completed a Italian trip with Insight (much more expensive and an older crowd) I knew that fact I was paying half what I paid with Insight that the hotels would be more basic and out of the city centre, I really didn't expect much from Kumuka and I was happily suprised.

The tour provided incredible value for money. Yes the hotels were out of the city centre however Kumuka provided transport back to the hotels (which by the way were clean and quite nice)and gave information on how to get back to the hotel by public transport if you wanted to make a night of it.

Both the tour guide and bus driver were professional and friendly.

The itinerary was varied and interesting with sufficent free time. A definte positve of the tour is that they don't try and push overpriced optional extras, there are only a few and they are reasonably priced.

Negatives, the only one was that the group was split into two hotels which made socialising difficult.

I would not hesitate to recommend Kumuka to anyone that is budget conscious, but still wants clean hotels and to have a great time.
