We have been to Center Parcs Longleat 3 times and have never had any problems so we decided to try the one at Sherwood Forest for a change. Big Mistake. Our chalet was disgusting. The smell of ammonia in the twin bedroom was overpowering. This was the room our children were sleeping in and I had serious concerns for their health. We complained to guest services who eventually sent two cleaners to sort out the problem. I was told that the stench ws simply 'forest smells due to a damp winter' (we arrived on the 17th August) They 'resolved' the problem by spraying febreeze around the room and lots of shake n vac products which obviously just masked the odour. We had to leave the windows open just to be able to breathe in the chalet. We told guest services the stench was still there and all they did was resend the cleaners to mask the smell again. The garden area was overgrown and full of stinging nettles so they sent a gardener to cut it back. We were given a bottle of wine and box of chocolates as compensation. We were stupid enough to spend £800 on this chalet that I would not want my worst enemy to stay in. Really really disappointed.
