Bought the Ford Fiesta 1.4 car in 2006 from a Ford Dealer when it was 2 yrs old and 14,500 on the clock Is a TDCi Zetec with air con.
Problems. Front wheel found to be buckled ( not by me) replaced under warranty.
Clutch operating mechanism failed (clip broke) and I had to be recovered.( fixed under warranty ( never re occurred)
Air Con stopped working - back to dealer about 4 times before fixed ( wire too short which kept snapping.)
All these faults were in first couple of months and the car has been reliable since.( Normal servicing at Ford dealer which is reasonably priced.
Lack of power can catch you out when overtaking.Be careful!
Fuel economy is good 55 - 58 mpg on mixture of town / long runs. This summer did 66mpg, properly checked on a 1000 mile holiday trip. My best ever, when I was really trying, was 68.75 mpg.
Road tax (£35) is cheap.
The car handles well and is good to drive and comfortable for me at 6' 3" and heftily built ( 17.5 stone.) It is very manoevrable and easy to find a parking spot. Now done 49,000 and going well.
